EPP Report

EPP Students

At Mount Eliza Secondary College we believe that many students have areas of strength, most of which are not recognised in SEAL and other advancement programs run in schools.

Our Enhanced Performance Program differs as it allows all highly capable students to be challenged regardless of their area of strength.  Year 6 students apply to be an EPP member providing evidence of their success and 'contract' to maintain high level performance in their nominated area.  Successful students can also be considered for a scholarship in their area of strength.

EPP Plans for Term 3

Here are some ideas for all students to get involved in during Term 3 from the Enhanced Performance Program  (EPP) students...

Maths/Science

by Amelia Rickard - Year 8

A few students of the Enhanced Performance Program will be holding sessions for other students from Year 7 and 8 who would like extra help in the areas of Math or Science. It will be held in JLC on Wednesday lunchtimes and we welcome all abilities.

It will be running all throughout term 3.

Art

by Ella Pascoe

As part of the Art EPP program we would like to hold an art competition for Grade 5 and 6 students of the primary schools in the Mt Eliza area and some people from MESC. The winner's art pieces would be displayed in an art gallery on the school grounds.

Community Service

by Lola Murchie

In IDEEA Lab we are currently doing community placement. Community placement is where I go out into the community and volunteer at different places, for example, for such events as Relay for Life, Community Lunch and a childcare centre, just to name a few. I will take on two community placements instead of one and in my placements I will lead and explain to my group to achieve better community involvement.

English

by Freya Jacques

The students in EPP English will be contributing their ideas and articles to the Splash magazine. We will also be updating the office Powerpoint when whole school events occur to showcase latest events.

Sport

by Jessica Ward

For the EPP program in sport we are going to try and have a 3 week program for Year 7 and 8's.

So 3 weeks before inter-school sports we have a training session for the sport you are in.   It will be during period on a Friday.

Leadership

by Emily Hughes

In Leadership for the Enhanced Performance Program in Term 3, I believe it would be beneficial to hold some Team Building Activities. These can help bring people out of their comfort zones and to make new friends. There are many benefits to Team Building Activities, here

are just a few:

- Bonding

- Looking out for each other

- Building trust

- Communication

- Cooperation

- Team work

- Respect

- Listening skills

- ITS FUN!!!

So keep an eye on these activities and I would strongly encourage you to participate.
