Athletics

Congratulations to all the St Pius X College athletes who competed at the St Pat’s and St Pius X College Invitational Carnival. This was our biggest team to compete so far this season. The next invitational on Saturday 3rd September is at SOPAC Homebush, followed by the ISA Carnival at Homebush on 6th September.

The ISA team will be finalised this Saturday. The team is now up on the noticeboard outside the Gym. A meeting will be held on Wednesday lunch time in the Gym to help with selections and hand out information for the ISA.

All ISA selected athletes have to train this Wednesday and the following Monday. Competing at SOPAC on Saturday is essential for all ISA athletes but particularly our relay teams.

It was fantastic to see parents, students, prefects, teachers, coaches and old boys working together to host the Athletics Carnival on Saturday. Many thanks to everyone who helped it was an excellent day.

ISA Team Selection to compete at NSWCIS

Competitors finishing in the TOP 3 in each Age Group at the ISA shall gain selection into the 2016 ISA Athletics Team to compete in the NSWCIS Athletics Championships at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre on 21st September.

Please note that even though a student may place in their race, they may not make the ISA team as there are 2 divisions for each event and students competing up an age are considered in their own age bracket for CIS.

  • Year 8 students will trial from 8:00am - 10:00am
  • Year 9 students will trial from 10:00am - 12:00am

Students who cannot attend the trial must present a note to Mr Gibson explaining their absence. Mr Gibson will speak to individuals who are absent about their opportunity to trial.

Football Club News

This will be the final Football News item for the current year.  The Football committee wishes to thank all those parents who contributed with photos throughout the year so we could chronicle the boys’ season in the Full Time weekly results flyer.  All past issues are available on the P& F website in the Football section.

We would also like to thank the College staff for their support.

The committee thanks those parents who have sent in comments and suggestions on Football at the College.  We encourage everyone to share their ideas so we can know how and where the parent body feels the Committee should focus their resources next season.  You can email us at footballspx@gmail.com or attend our next general meeting.

We are putting the final touches to the ‘Year in Review’ publication and it will be distributed this week.
