Leadership Camp at Huntington House, Terigal
The Year 11 Student Prefect Leadership Team elect enjoyed both the break in the weather and stunning surrounds as the first St Pius X College group to use the newly refurbished Huntington House at Terrigal Beach for their Leadership Camp last Thursday and Friday.
Shared between St Pius X College and Christian Brothers Lewisham the facility will be used for a myriad of events including Year 9 Camps 2017, Retreats and Rugby pre-season camp, having been functionally redesigned over the past few months.
Having taken the opportunity to develop their leadership and communication skills, define their portfolios and set goals for their leadership tenure, the new Student Leadership team are keen to connect with students from Year 5 to Year 12 as both Year Prefect Representatives and House Captains, Cultural, Learning, Mission and Identity and Wellbeing advocates.
This Thursday they will conduct a lunch briefing with their 2016 counterparts to further refine their Leadership goals for 2017.
Thank you to Mr Ross Masters (Year 11 Coordinator), Ms Maria Pantalone (Speechcraft Presenter), Mr Couani, and Mr James Cummins (Exercise Physiologist and Positivity Project leader) all of whom presented to facilitate a highly motivating Leadership Camp.
Mr S Brannan - Head of Student Services
It is a busy time for the Student Wellbeing Team over the next few weeks.
We look forward to our Buddies Bushwalk this Saturday from Acron Oval St Ives to Davidson Park (Roseville Bridge) this Saturday morning which doubles as a Year 11 Snowy Expedition practice hike. Permission notes required to Mr Russo / Mr Brannan by tomorrow so that we can cater for the Davidson Park BBQ. This event focuses on connecting Peer Mentors with their Mentees over a very picturesque scramble along Sydney’s Bush and Middle Harbour.
A reminder of details:
RUOK Day will be celebrated on Friday 9th September at St Pius X College, recognising the development of life skills to support one another as we look to overcome the challenges and adversity we all face at one time or another. Brainstorm productions will present an interactive play to Year 5 and 6 (Pers 1 and 2), Year 7 and 8 (Pers 3 and 4) and Years 9 and 10 (Pers 5 and 6) followed by Peer and Staff-led forums and guest speakers focusing on developing our wellbeing through practical skills and actions.
Students will be invited to wear their favourite jersey at school on RUOK Day and contribute to our RUOK Mindmatters Charities, but will be required to wear their school uniform to and from school and not put their jersey on until they arrive at the school foyer.
Already our Year 10 and 12 MindMatters Teams and Year 11 Wellbeing Prefects elect have been busy under the guidance of Ms Kugananthan and Ms Allington in collecting Gratitude Merit Cards from the student body to celebrate the positive interactions between staff and students at St Pius X College and we look forward to some very positive outcomes from this day.

It is certainly not too late to register your interest to attend and become better informed on a more balanced, healthier approach to the use of technology both at home and at school.
