Fathers' Day
We wish all fathers and grandfathers a happy Fathers' Day on Sunday and I share with you a beautiful poem written by Alex Hawkins of Year 6 in honour of fathers.
God Called It
By Alex Hawkins – Year 6
God had an idea
that sprang into his mind.
He started thinking
but there was nothing to find.
So God got the faith of a mustard seed
and the power of an eagle’s flight;
he grabbed the life of a fruity plant
and the great gorilla’s might.
He got the power of electricity
and a sample of a lizard’s speed;
he salvaged some of a lorikeet’s love
and took a bit of a leprechaun’s greed.
Then when God realised his quest was complete
he knew there was nothing more to add.
He whispered to himself now,
God has called it Dad.
