Thankyou to all the students who assisted din the organisation and running of these.
Special mention to M2 student Ben Mai for his fantastic work co-hosting the College Talent Quest. In what is one of the most anticipated events on the college calendar, Ben put nerves aside to successful entertain and host the show. Congratulations!
What’s Happening in VCAL?
Our students have hit the ground running this term with many exciting projects taking place in our classes. A highlight being our Senior Year 12 Students working with our Year 11 classes to plan and run a major project. With the focus on developing links with external organisations and the environment, projects such as building garden sheds and garden beds to grow vegetables for use in MANNA, exploring sustainability in the ocean environment and building a fish tank for the VCAL centre, looking at issues of endangered species and fundraising to save them, and working with our local schools are amongst some of the great activities currently being planned.
Congratulations also to students Zak Bogden, Nicholas Ryan, Shelby Peronace, and Chloe Vinci on they successful fundraiser for Michelle Newland. As part of their Work Related Skills project, they chose to make and sell Churro’s as part of to fundraise for Michelle. After the huge success of their first stall, they decided to run the stall a second time. All up, they raised an amazing $560 which will be used to purchase a new microphone for Michelle to use when she speaks and presents at functions. Michelle is a former student of the college, and every year donates her time to speak at our Year 11 retreats, speaking about the challenges she faces after suffering a severe Asthma Attack. The students were inspired by her story, and wanted to give something back. Congratulations to these students, and we look forward to presenting this donation to Michelle.
