UN Youth ‘Voice’ Public Speaking Competition 2018
UN Youth Voice is a public speaking competition that sees participants from Years 7-10 propose solutions to pressing global issues, lobby for their consideration, and defend its validity. Students needed to prepare a 5-minute speech proposing a solution to a contemporary global issue, then answer questions from a panel of judges about their proposal.
Nossal hosted a regional round of the competition in which the following students competed: Prachi Beniwal, Joel Siaw, Annette Varghese, Esha Vashisht, Neha Cherayath, Nadia Hadzikadic, Nalini Jacob-Roussety, Deetya Kannan and Savindee Liyanage. All students competed to a very high level and Joel, Nalini, Prachi and Deetya were successful in being invited to the State Finals.
The State Finals were held at the Library in Docklands on Friday, 9 November. There were 25 finalists from a range of schools across Victoria and only the top five were able to progress to the National Finals. Again, all our student gave fantastic presentations and both Joel and Nalini have been invited to the National finals in Perth next year!
Congratulations again to all students involved.
