Melton SC Co Sports Captain, Maddy Lister, has been named as Captain of the Western Jets in the new Youth GirlsAFL TAC competition.

Manar Mahfouz, Year 9, recently competed in the Tasmanian Swimming Championships where she finished 3rd and swum a time that qualified her to compete at the National Championships.

Ebony Carter, Year 9, has been selected in the Netball Victoria Diamonds Academy.

Victorian School Sport Blues Award.

 Recently at the MCG, Amy Cargill, Yr 9, received a School Sport Victoria Sporting Blue award, the highest award a student can receive in Victorian schools for sporting achievement. She received her award at a luncheon held in the members’ room. It was a high profile gathering of dignitaries, staff, parents and students. One award per 18 official school sports in both primary and secondary were awarded. Historically, a Sporting Blue is identified worldwide as an accolade of sporting excellence. The Deputy Premier, James Merlino, was the guest speaker.

Amy is only the 11th Melton SC person to receive a Blues award since its inception in 1994. Amy recently moved to Queensland, but flew down just for the event.

  • Andrew Smith, hockey, Olympian
  • Lindsay Gaze, basketball Hall of Fame Legend, 7 Olympics
  • Nicole Livingstone, ex Olympian and Commonwealth Champion, and now Channel 9 commentator was the MC

Rugby League 

Rugby League 9's - North/West Region

Senior Girls – played very well but lost all 4 games to Vic Uni, The Grange, Point Cook and Hume Central

Senior Boys – won enough games against Braybrook, Mt. Ridley and Craigieburn to qualify for the Region final and the State final but were disqualified for breaking the competition rules.

 Intermediate Girls – defeated Lalor, Hume Central and Gladstone Park. They lost to Mt. Ridley in extra time, but as the top two teams progress, they qualified for the State Final in May.

Intermediate Boys – defeated Gladstone Park, Braybrook and Hume Central, but lost to Mt. Ridley. The 2nd place spot (and therefore a place in the State final) was decided on percentage and unfortunately Point Cook were ahead of us.

Tennis

Intermediate Girls – def Kurunjang 21/3, def Gisborne 24/1, def Sunbury 25/0 and def Sunbury Downs 14/8 to  qualify for the Region Final in Geelong

Junior Boys – def Sunbury Downs 16/7, tied with Kurunjang 6/6 but lost to Gisborne 9/15 to finish 2nd.

Our qualifiers are:

Yr 7 – Chloe Rees (5 events) Jorja Tuttle (3)

Yr 8 – Aleena J. Busttil (3), Shanae Besanko (3), Trinity Skenderis (1), Mateo Bonic (1)       

Yr 9 – Manar Malfouz (5)             

Yr 10 – Ronan Valsamis-Camilleri (2)

The competition will be very tough with some State and National level swimmers in opposition.

Melton Hockey Club  -  The Melton Hockey club are a very progressive local club who are always looking for more members. They have a wide array of competitions. They run an internal u/8 program: for u/10 the program is called Game On. They also run Hook 2 for ages 5-12. They have a group of competitions for men and women, for all ages, young and even masters level. A social competition is also played.
