Year 11 & 12, Sport, Lifestyle and Rec. Studies Snow Trip@Falls Creek

After four days of wild blizzard conditions Falls Creek Alpine Resort awoke yesterday to what has been described as “The Day of the Decade”, as far as skiing and boarding is concerned. Tuesday, August 8th, will stay long in the minds of our senior SLR students and staff who attended yesterdays’ excursion.

With over a metre of fresh snow, a beautiful sunny and still day, the conditions were superb. Such ideal conditions ensured that everyone had the best opportunity to develop and improve their skiing or snowboarding skills. Everyone had a fantastic day and the snowball fight at the end of the day taught us two things. Riley Corbett can throw straighter than he can kick and Mr McNamara is a bigger kid than the kids!!

The silence on the bus as we descended the mountain at the end of the day was a good indicator of the effort that was put in on the slopes throughout the day. A big thankyou to Mrs Jones, Mr Conn and Mr McNamara for their early start/late finish and to all the students for their fantastic approach to the day. Ben, our driver from Allen’s, was as professional as ever and moved us safely on and off the mountain.

Thanks to all concerned. It was certainly “The Day of the Decade”.
