Principals' Update

Returning to Onsite Learning Tomorrow

Thank you for your ongoing support particularly over the past two weeks. We are very excited to see our students back onsite tomorrow.

Based on advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer, schools in metropolitan Melbourne will return to face-to-face learning and teaching for all students from and including Friday 11 June 2021.

From 11.59pm Thursday 10 June, consistent with advice for the broader community, school staff and secondary school students aged 12 or older, must wear a face mask at school, unless an exception applies:

* in all indoor spaces

* in all outdoor spaces when 1.5m physical distance cannot be maintained

* when travelling to and from school on public transport.

Visitors and parents must also observe this guidance.

We are asking parents and carers to not enter the school buildings unless absolutely necessary or assisting as a parent helper. Parent helpers are very much welcome back onsite, particularly those parents who listen to our students read.

Health and Wellbeing

The wellbeing of all our students is our priority and our school staff and teachers are here to support you and your family. Information that might be of assistance to you in talking to your child about COVID-19 is available. If you are concerned about your wellbeing or that of your child, please contact the school so we can talk with you about how to best assist.

Other sources of support include: Parent Line 13 22 89 and Kids Helpline 1800 55 1800.

A reminder that if you, your child, or a family member develops symptoms of COVID-19, you shouldget tested at a COVID-19 testing facility and stay home.

Each family should regularly check thelist of public exposure sites in Victoria (where a person with COVID-19 has attended), and if anyone in the family has attended a site at the times listed, follow the instructions given.

If you are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, please check out thewebsite for information and bookings. Like getting tested if you have symptoms, getting vaccinated goes a long way to keeping our community safe and school open.

Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or the school if you have any concerns.

Greener Government School Buildings Program - Installation of Solar Panels

Installation of solar panels on the roof above the Foundation classrooms started today. This project is expected to be completed next week. Whilst works are going on, the Foundation Deck on Canning St has been blocked off and is out-of-bounds. Foundation students will instead line up on the deck near the Junior School Playground.

Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday Monday 15 June

A reminder that Monday is the Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday and there will be no school.

Semester 1 Student Reports

As the Education Funding Agreement with the Commonwealth Government requires schools to report student achievement to parents twice a year, Semester 1 Student Reports will be posted on Compass in Week 10 as scheduled.

Over the first six weeks of school this term, our teachers began assessing student achievement in preparation for these reports but, due to this recent lockdown and interruption to learning, have not been able to gather as much assessment data on student learning as they would in the normal onsite learning environment. (During 2020, we very quickly discovered the difficulty in assessing students within the remote learning environment.)

We would like to thank our teachers for all of their hard work on the Student Reports during this challenging period of lockdown. We would also like to share with our CNPS Families that our teachers have done their very best to determine each student’s academic achievement using the assessment data they have on hand.

Trivia Night Friday 23 July at  75 Reid St, Fitzroy North

This year we will be holding a Trivia Night to raise much needed funds for the school. This will be one of the major fundraisers for 2021 as we won’t be holding The Great Lee St Fete this year. We are looking forward to a vibrant night out and invite you to come along and celebrate with us. Colour me happy! is the theme. Wear as many vibrant colours as you like.

It will be a fun-filled event that will include trivia, games, prizes, cheese platters, hot food, wine, dancing and other activities in between. We encourage our school community to purchase a ticket and to all raise funds together!
