Principal's News

Dear Parents / Carers,

As I begin today’s newsletter I had to check and double check that it was only last week that the kids were again at home in Lockdown. For some reason it was hard to believe. Last Friday’s return from Lockdown was one of the happier mornings I’ve ever spent standing at the front of this school. Children tumbled out of cars, ran from buses and sped up on bikes and scooters giggling with each other, a lot of them straight past me. What a privilege! As I always do, I did my best to call everyone by name and did my best to tease as many as I could, asking most of the Grade 6 students if they had missed me and how much.

Almost without exception I got this kind of shy smile and a “Yes .. a bit”

I joked with one parent that it is usually at the END of the day on Friday that I am glad to see the kids filing past me! But their joy at being back at school was infectious.

Let’s hope and pray that our school year remains unaffected by the pandemic as health authorities continue to strive to contain this incessant menace.

FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART This Friday we are celebrating the Feast of the Sacred Heart. Unfortunately, due to the current Covid regulations parents and friends cannot attend the school. Fr Michael will be here to celebrate an “outdoor Mass” to mark the occasion.

After recess on Friday the children will be participating in a number of “Jump Rope for Heart” activities as is often our tradition on this day.

Children have been asked to bring specific donations to be given to St Vincent de Paul in “Care Packs” that our senior students will put together from these donations. Please see our R. E. Leader, Julie’s report following in today’s newsletter.

ASSESSMENT CONVERSATIONS

Assessment Conversations are a very important part of the way in which we report to parents on their children’s progress at school. These meetings involve parents, teacher and student for the initial part of the conversation, before the student leaves and the adults have the opportunity to speak together without the child’s input.

Our teachers will give parents a brief written report at the end of this meeting, however it is the Conversation where most of the reporting will be done.

The Assessment conversations will commence on Tuesday, June 15th and will conclude on Tuesday June 22nd.

Parents are asked to schedule interviews with their child/ren’s teacher(s) via PAM. Interviews will be held in the school’s multi-purpose room.

Parents are able to attend these meetings as they are deemed “essential” to the child/ren’s learning, however if anyone feels particularly vulnerable or is not comfortable about coming into the school they can arrange a phone interview if they would prefer.

The Multi purpose Room will be set up to allow for Social Distancing. Parents will need to wear a mask whilst on the school premises, Parents will need to use our QR Code to register their attendance on site and sanitizing stations will be set up throughout the school.

NO CANTEEN Unfortunately , we are again unable to offer Canteen lunches at school.

ENROLMENTS Parents are reminded that Enrolment Application Forms for Prep students for 2022 are due. Please drop them into school at your convenience.

SKOOLBAG Sacred Heart will no longer be using Skoolbag as a means of communication. To advise 'Absences', please do so via PAM. T

To advise changes to 'End of Day routine', (only to be used for current day)
