Kinross Wolaroi Reads

Looking to snuggle up by the fire with a good book this winter holidays?

‘The Happiest Man on Earth’ is the remarkable true story of Eddie Jaku’s awe-inspiring survival of the Holocaust and an uplifting reflection on gratitude and hope.

In our first ever ‘KINROSS WOLAROI READS’ initiative, we invite students, staff and parents to read this incredible tale over the break. In Term 3, we will be holding a range of activities, both inside and outside of school, so that our community can come together and share our thoughts on this narrative of survival, the miracle of human kindness and the power of hope. It is a short book and, although it deals with some harrowing events, is suitable for readers aged 12 and above.

Track down a copy of this excellent book at our local Orange Collins Bookstore, online or from the KWS library now. Happy reading!

Orange Billy Blood Drop Challenge

Do you regularly donate whole blood or plasma, or would you like to start?

Become a part of the KWS team for this year's Billy Drop School's Challenge ...

June 1 marks the start of the Orange Billy Drop School's challenge, which runs until 31 October this year. The challenge is a well-established annual blood challenge in the Orange community (2021 is its 8th year) where local schools come together to help save lives via blood donation.

Last year the challenge helped to save 1,251 lives (417 donations). This year the Blood Bank is aiming even higher and hoping to help save 1,500 lives (500 donations).

You can see which schools are involved, and a runny tally of donations, at this link: https://my.donateblood.com.au/app/challenge/details/challenge_id/27/session

How do I join the team?

All you need to do to join the team is to let the staff know when you go in to donate that you wish to be a part of the KWS team.

OR alternatively you can log into your account and join the team there, under the "My Teams" link https://my.donateblood.com.au/app/myteams_home

Who can join the team?

Any adult (18+) who is connected to your family - parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents. ALSO - if you have a family friend who regularly donates, you can ask them to join the KWS team too 🙂

THANK YOU in advance for taking part in this life-saving challenge. 🩸💝🙏

Careers Evening

Students and their parents from Years 10, 11 and 12 are invited to attend our annual Careers Evening on Thursday 17 June from 5.30 to 7.30pm.

The evening is a showcase of career options, proudly supported by our generous local employers and professionals who donate their time to provide students with career insights and advice. As well, we will have around 15 tertiary institutions in attendance to provide information about their courses and entry options. Our ‘expo’ format will allow students to explore the many opportunities available to them post-school.

To meet COVID-19 regulations ALL students and parents/carers MUST book to attend and you are required to choose one of two sessions:

·         Session 1: 5.30pm to 6.30pm

·         Session 2: 6.30pm to 7.30pm (Boarders MUST book for this session).

Attendance by boarders will be organised by their Heads of House and they will attend the 6.30pm-7.30pm session so that meal times are not interrupted. Girl boarders will be provided with bus transport.

Attendees will be required to check in with the Service NSW App on arrival at the venue.

The Addams Family: A Musical Comedy

Featuring an original story, The Addams Family, is a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family. In the kooky, upside-down world of the Addams Family, to be sad is to be happy, to feel pain is to feel joy, and death and suffering are the stuff of their dreams.

Directed by Alex Dunkley, the KWS 2021 musical features Jonty King in the quirky lead role of Gomez Addams. His lovely, morbid wife Morticia is played by Catie Crisp. Their daughter, Wednesday is played by Ella Andrews. She teams up with her onstage boyfriend, Cale Slack-Smith in the role of Lucas. Kate Dowd, Duncan Holland, Charlie Hall, Sam Durkin, Ethan Kairaitis and Oscar McLaughlin also star, alongside 30 vibrant chorus dancers to bring you a hilarious and energetic piece of musical theatre.

Bookings can be made through Ticketek via the Orange Civic Theatre or click on the link below. It will be an enjoyable evening for the whole family!
