FOUNDATION - AROUND THE TRAPS

Diana Rinaldi

Well done to the Foundation students, Naomi and Bronwyn on a wonderful SAKG cooking lesson! The students had so much fun making olive muffins with homemade butter. Students learnt to harvest an olive tree near the church - it was raining olives!! To link with our inquiry, we discussed the process of change from harvesting the olives to when you are able to eat them. Enjoy the photos!

Literacy

This week our shared text is Belinda. Every day, Old Tom tends to his vegetables while Bessie milks Belinda the cow. Then Bessie goes away and Old Tom must milk Belinda! This doesn’t go so well until Old Tom thinks of a good plan to disguise himself as Bessie! Look out for the Foundation students in disguise! Wewill also look closely at the language orientation from the story, a word study and then attempt our own patterned writing. Students are learning the letter b and making CVC words that start with b - bat, bed, bin, bag, bun, bus.

Maths

Maths is always a lot of fun, practising lots of counting and introducing teen numbers! We will use bundles of ten icy pole sticks and ones to help our understanding.

Religion (RE)

Foundation has been learning about being followers of Jesus. We had the story of the Rainbow Fish, who gave away his shiny scale to help another fish. We then had the story of Jesus, who helped heal the 10 Lepers. We learned that to be a Christian, is to follow Jesus and live a life of thinking of the needs of others.
