45S - AROUND THE TRAPS

Bridget Smith & Michael Kearton

Literacy

Students have been working on persuasive writing over Term 2 and as this unit comes to a close, they will be writing a persuasive letter to Federal Member for Indi, Helen Haines. Students will write to Helen on the subject of renewable energy in our community and our grade 4’s will be presenting a speech to the Lions Club about the best charity in Beechworth to volunteer for.

Literacy circles have continued as students begin unpacking their novels on a weekly basis.

Maths

We have started our unit on Area this week. Students have started by comparing the area of shapes. Students will work towards understanding how to find the area of various shapes and putting this into practice in the real world.

Religion

We will finish up our look at the Sacraments this week by focusing on the rituals associated with the Sacraments and how Scripture passages related to the Sacraments.

Inquiry

Our early look at democracy has focused on the three levels of government and how the election process works. Students discussed the positives and negatives of our system and Sam even decided that we should move to three states and governments based on time zones! This week we will run a secret ballot using preferential voting in our class. Students will be voting for how we spend the first thirty minutes of our day next Tuesday.
