Junior School Learning

News from Foundation 

In Foundation Maths students have been learning about capacity. Using concrete materials students have been demonstrating full, half full and empty. 

 

 

 

Year 1 and 2

 

Noah

Reading: 

We were reading our independent reading books and working on the sentences.

 

Writing:

We wrote lots of persuasive texts like “What is your favourite animal and why?” and “What is your favourite food and why?”

 

Maths:

We were working on counting up and now on counting down.

 

Ben

Reading:

We have been learning about different sounds like ‘oo’ as in moon.

 

Writing:

We were learning to write persuasive texts, the statement of position, arguments and conclusion. I wrote why books are better than movies and it’s because books don’t need electricity and you can learn more from books.

 

Maths:

We were learning about the subtraction strategy of using our tens facts and what’s different between them.

 

Felicity

Reading:

We are learning about the phoneme ‘oo’ as in soon.

 

Writing:

We wrote a persuasive text about why movies are better than books and I wrote that movies are better because books take too long to read and a movie is quicker and because if you are not good at reading books then movies are easy to watch.

 

Maths:

 We have been doing a lot of counting backwards in maths.
