What’s happening in STEAM?

Competition season is coming with lots happening in the STEAM room at lunchtimes.
TechGirls 2021
Nineteen MGC students have signed up for the TechGirls competition this year in four teams. Each team has to identify a problem, brainstorm some solutions then develop an app, business plan and promotional campaign for their product. Each team is matched with an industry mentor to guide them. Our teams are:

We will share their ideas as they get developed.
FIRST Lego League – Rookie Season
Our new Year 7 students who have signed up for the Lego League rookie season will be competing on the 7th of June. The event is a remote event with them communicating with their judges over Zoom. Each group needs to develop a project on the theme of Sport/Recreation, build and program a robot and work as a team. Good luck everyone.

After a hiatus for most of 2020, we are back for 2021. Our first meeting happened in term 1. This term we are planning on doing a site visit to a level crossing removal project and having another module.
We are also in talks to start a new project in 2022 for current Year 8 and 9 students – stay tuned for more information.
Remember the STEAM room (332) is open on Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes – new members always welcome.
