Photo's

Please see the communication sent via seesaw to create an account to access your child's Kinder photo's. These should be ready in the next two to three weeks.

Dickens Room

We have had a big week at kinder, with the last of our Photo's , science experiments, art show paintings, mid year assessments for our four year old class and lots of music and art!

Our Wimbi children have really enjoyed having a week without any extra's to accommodate into the session. They have resettled and shown a renewed focus when interacting with their peers and play choices.

We have been working on turn taking, flexible thinking and following steps and instructions, this can be a challenge at times, especially when everything is exciting or their own ideas differ from a peer or Teacher. Supporting each child to understand the wider world around them and how they fit into a social dynamic is a crucial part of this years development.

It is amazing to be a part of this learning through an education setting.

Our Marram class has had a beautiful week, with so many moments of focus, deep conversation and connection and so many rich discussions and interactions. The children are really enjoying the increase and challenges that are being provided in the program. Cristina ran an activity in Mandarin class this week, using the learning around fruit and colour to create 'fruit pizza'. The children loved the process and learning, they were able to eat their own 'pizza's' some of them even liked fruit they usually don't.

We have found that the children have been so focused and engaged in the program that they are exhausted and then really enjoying the short down time we have. The blankets and pillows are creating such a wonderful sense of belonging and comfort, and a 15 minute unwind is having incredible benefits to the learning and engagement of an afternoon.

We are in the process of completing a Mid year- School readiness assessment for each child. This information will be shared with each family at a Parent- Teacher meeting on Thursday 24th June for our Marram class. I will send out invites shortly.

Moore Room

We have had a wonderful week in the Moore room. There are many and various ways in which we incorporate numeracy into our program. Through building houses with the big blocks, playdough, making volcanoes, all construction materials, water beads, puzzles and map making for treasure hunts are ways to explore math concepts.  They enable children to understand capacity, volume, similarities and differences, shape recognition, spatial awareness and recognising patterns that support predictions. One of the highlights was making watermelon pizza with Cristina in the Chinese language program. Watermelon triangles for the base, strawberries, blueberries and sultanas for the topping, which allows for number counting, size and placement, and some yoghurt to combine. This has also supported our discussions around nutrition.

As an extension we have seen watermelon smoothies in the play dough and ice-cream shops in the sandpit – discussing good and sometimes foods. Some great self-portraits for our art show and the children are particularly enjoying the c.d. books – allowing for some pre-literacy skills and also some moments of solitude and recharge.

We are in the process of completing a Mid year- School readiness assessment for each child. This information will be shared with each family at a Parent- Teacher meeting and we will be sending out invites soon.

We are looking forward to our open night this Thursday 27th May where we get to enjoy showcasing our skills with our families.

Have a super week!
