Easter Colouring-In Competition
Our Primary Arts Captain Summer Black ran an Easter Colouring Competition for the Prep to Year 2 students. We had three overall winners.
Joshua (Prep), Lucy (Year 1) and Alexis (Year 2). Their artwork is currently displayed in G-Block.
Prep B Art Class
Prep B enjoyed building creations from recycled materials this week. They produced some wonderful creations such as houses, robots, airplanes, jewellery boxes, flower pots and much much more.
1/2 Art Class
1/2J Finished off their stained glass crosses today. After this we discussed the work of Dale Chihuli, an American glass artist. They used coffee filters and food dye to create a piece of work that will be a collaboration between the year level. We discussed colour mixing and watched the primary colour food dyes mix together to create secondary colours.
3/4C Easter Activities
3/4T Sustainability
This term our 3/4 students have been learning about biomes. Some of our chosen biomes are: ocean, arctic, savanna, tropical rainforest, desert, grasslands and tundra. After choosing their biome, each student had to think about what their biome looked like when God first created the world. Then they researched to find information to answer questions. Finally, each student designed and created a model to represent their biome.
Each student made their chosen biome using the cardboard pizza box that they recycled from their solar ovens. Next they made animals that live in their biomes. Year 1/2T and 1/2J students came to our class room and they were very amazed by our projects! - Liora and Ava
5/6 Leadership Lessons
Year 5/6 have been learning all about leadership. They explored some Aboriginal Leaders and how some used images to spread the stories from the Bible. 5/6 students had the opportunity to tell a bible story using the same symbols and images. They are displayed in G-block.
Indonesian Class
We have had a very busy term in the Indonesian class. Here are some of the highlights from each year level.
The Prep students are feeling more settled in as they use Indonesian to greet each other, mark the roll, and play games such as Duck, duck, goose and Doggie, doggie, where's your bone?
Years 1/2 students have learned the Indonesian version of the song “Alive, Alive, Alive, Forevermore”. They have also brought home a colouring project they completed in class with the song lyrics printed at the back.
Years 3/4 students have completed a project and presentation on their family. They also used their skills and knowledge to solve an Easter egg hunt challenge by working in teams and using dictionaries.
Each student in Years 5/6 received a letter from their penpal as part of our sister school partnership with Sekolah Kalam Kudus in Bali. The students spent a couple of weeks composing a response letter. During this activity students discovered that the Indonesian language borrowed many words from English, and these loanwords make it easier to decipher the content of a written text.
If you have an opportunity to go to Bali for a holiday, you might want to include visiting or driving past our sister school in Bali as part of your itinerary. If you want to know more about our sister school program, please contact Ibu Newton (Mrs. Newton).
Selamat Paskah dan Tuhan Memberkati (Happy Easter and God Bless)

Primary District Athletics
Our yr 3 to 6 students participated in District Athletics (Track events) on Friday 31 March.
With rain predicted, it wasn't looking good! Thankfully the sun shone through the clouds and the day turned out to be an absolute cracker.
Kids cheering, other kids panting as they put their all into running for Bayside. We came second overall which was a great result for our little school and everyone enjoyed the day. Even Miss Wright who got to show her skills at driving the mini bus to and from Ballam Park. Well done all!
