The full schedule for next week’s Tech Week has been announced, view the details below:

Junior Theatre Sports

To prepare our Junior TheatreSports team for their upcoming competition, Youth TheatreSports worked with Mount Alvernia students at an afternoon workshop. Students spent the afternoon with a TheatreSports expert, practicing different conventions and rules around TheatreSports. Hear what our students had to say about the workshop:

“I learnt that when you are in a scene, you don't say no … I really enjoyed it” – Charlotte, Year 7

“I learnt a lot of fun games and to always say yes no matter what, also I enjoyed spending and having fun with everyone.” – Kailyn, Year 7

“What I enjoyed at the workshop was the opportunity to have fun with my friends, as well as getting to know new people, all the while learning new acting skills and techniques.” – Milly, Year 7

“I learnt the difference between expanding a scene and continuing one and really enjoyed this experience … If there are more workshops to come I will definitely be there.” – Sienna, Year 9

Mt A Speaks!

Over the past three weeks, Mt A Speaks! has been running, with dedicated students turning up and practicing their public speaking skills. These workshops have been run by Ms Conway, one of our English and Drama teachers, who has been sharing her professional knowledge and industry experience. Whether students were preparing for the upcoming English Speaking Union Competition, debating or general improvement, students used prepared speeches to practice skills in pronunciation, non-verbal communication and the psychology of anxiety and excitement.

To ensure Year 9 students are prepared for their upcoming English Persuasive Speeches, Mount Alvernia is running Prepare to Persuade workshops which will follow a similar form and ensure students feel confident and competent for this task.

If you are a Year 9 student looking to enhance your skills, sign up now – nominations close on Sunday evening at 8.00pm and numbers are limited. Students can click this link for sign up details and more information on dates and times.
