Dear Parents and Carers,

What a fantastic couple of weeks we have been having here at Mt A. Anyone who has visited our campus recently will see how spectacular our grounds are looking in preparation and readiness for our Open Day later this month. My public thanks go to our magnificent maintenance team, including our curator of gardens who continue to do a sensational job of  always caring for our environment. But it goes further than this, they create for us, a place of genuine wellbeing - and our students and staff are so blessed to have this. Our celebration of Elizabeth Hayes this week has been a particularly special one, and to have Sr Catherine and our Missionary Franciscan sisters join us for our Liturgy this week has been a great privilege.

The College Leadership Team and I particularly enjoy reminiscing with the sisters stories of the Mt A of years gone by.  It would seem our love of learning, sport and music is a theme that continues to this day! However, it is our quest to continue in the footsteps of Elizabeth Hayes and our Franciscan sisters to shape people of courage and hope that is most evident in our exchanges together. We are so lucky to share in this institutional wisdom and vocation.

In our strategic plan launched last year, you will recall our imperative of ‘empowering partnerships’ which we are working very intentionally towards. Of course, the number one partnership in any educational environment is the one with our parents and carers. We look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming social soiree on the 13th and thank all of those parents/carers who engaged with our teaching staff this week in our parent teacher student conferences online. We hope that the information exchanged during these important conversations have been helpful for your young person and that they have provided you with insight into their strengths and areas for development.

We appreciate that these brief encounters sometimes require follow up, so please, as always, do not hesitate to be in touch with the relevant subject teacher to arrange a further conversation should you require this. Our teaching staff are only too willing to support our students. As Principal, I could not hope for a more dedicated and hard-working staff! We are pleased to share there have been 1735 meetings conducted over the past two days and, we are happy to share some smiling faces from the meetings in the screenshots below.

You may also be aware from the various notices and information available on MyMtA that our students continued to be showered with an array of co-curricular opportunities. Please encourage your child to be involved in the exceptional experiences and connections that are currently on offer. As a college we are working also intentionally to fulfil our further strategic promise of cultivating “spirit -filled students” and the breadth of activities currently on offer is a testimony to this.

“ God of all creation, from age to age you raise up people to speak anew your Word to us: such was Elizabeth Hayes. Through her faith in God’s providence and courage in times of adversity, she responded to the needs of her day. Continue to inspire in us a deep trust in you and respect for all your creation. May we be people of compassion, justice and peace in our world. Amen. Saint Francis. Pray for us. Saint Clare. Pray for us. Elizabeth Hayes. Pray for us.

Peace and all good,

Samantha Jensen
