Principal's Report
Principal’s Report 5th April
Welcome Back to term 2, it’s great to see our students returning with enthusiasm and passion for learning.
We have started Prep tours for our new families and this has been an absolute highlight for me. To be able to talk about all the great things that happen @Lyndhurst Primary School and walk around with new families observing the great learning that happens in classrooms and the rich and diverse specialist areas. All our programs and practices are designed by our competent staff and professional learning teams who are informed by evidence-based research. It has been a pleasure for me, after being away for 3 ½ years, to return to see that the learning culture @Lyndhurst Primary School that has always been underpinned by constant improvement, is still alive and thriving despite the disruptions and impacts of COVID over the last 3 years. The result of the constant improvement cycles is continued innovative teaching and learning across the school. It has been such a joy to observe the learning in action with new families as I conduct tours of our fabulous school.
The new specialist area of Digital Technologies in our Maker space has been well received and enjoyed by our students. The teaching and learning program is a progressive and forward-thinking one that develops students as responsible digital citizens with skills and knowledge in coding, robotics, 3D design and printing.
A reminder to existing and new families of Prep students for 2024, we will be holding a Prep Information Night on Thursday May 11th from 6pm-7pm.
Leadership Changes
I would like to congratulate Jamie Mayhew- Sharp on his recent appointment as Acting Principal at Courtenay Gardens Primary School. We are fortunate to have Emma Galvin replacing Jamie as our Acting Assistant Principal. Emma will be the sub-school Assistant principal for grades 2 - 3, Moira McCann is the sub-school Assistant Principal for grade prep - 1 and Mansi Vadera is the sub-school Assistant Principal for grades 4, 5 & 6.
Sustainability and Physical Education
A reminder that this year we are participating in the Wonder Recycling Rewards Program for schools that has sporting equipment as rewards for schools. This program encourages students to be responsible for recycling plastics to look after our environment. Please start collecting your bread bags and wrap packets and bring them to school. It’s a great idea to use one bread bag to store the others inside. There are 2 pink recycling boxes for the collection of bread bags, one is located inside the office entrance doors and the other is in the Team Kids area. Please ensure that bags are emptied of crumbs, there is no need to wash the bags out. School collections close on the 23rd of June.
Back into the swing
It’s great to be back being able to plan great activities for our students without restrictions. The term has started with lots of extra activities, including District Cross Country, Grade 6 Interschool sport and the grade 6 camp to Waratah Bay next week.
Kind regards,
Nicky Walker
Acting Principal
