Overdue Library Resources

A reminder to return all Library resources on time - reminders are sent out to student school emails - so check if you have one.  Resources not returned may incur a replacement fee.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Collection

We have recently put together a collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures resources.  This new collection means students and staff can easily find items from our non-fiction, fiction, biographies and picture books to support them in this cross curriculum study.

Danielle Binks - Author Visit

Year 7 L&L students were very fortunate to hear from author of 'The Year the Maps Changed' Danielle Binks this term.  They all gained some insights into this novel which they are currently studying.  Lots of great questions from our students about her characters, the setting, background to  writing this story and her research process.

Also some very excited students who lined up for a signature and photo.

Macbeth

Year 10 English students can also check out some of our Shakespeare resources this term as they study 'Macbeth'.

Shadow Judging

In celebration of Children's Book Week later this month, students in Years 7-9 L&L classes are using their voices and have become 'Shadow Judges' for the CBCA Picture Book Award 2023.   Groups within each class are assessing each shortlisted title (6 in total) this term, to see if they can pick the winner of this award for 2024. The CBCA judges will announce the winner, for this and all other book categories in late August.  Will our students pick the same title or select a favourite of their own...?

Author of the Month

Thank you to Chloe and Charlotte S (Library Team) who have been creating our 'Author of the Month' posters.  This month it is Robert Newton, author of 'The Black Dog Gang' currently being studied by our Year 8 L&L students.

Ottilie Colter and the Narroway Hunt

review by Kaya Somasundram

When Ottilie Colter's brother is kidnapped, she befriends a mysterious creature called Bill and asks him to help her find her brother. When Ottilie joins the boys only Narroway Hunt, she plans to just get her brother and run. What she doesn't expect is to actually want to stay and help them with their mission. Can Ottilie keep her cover and protect her brother? I absolutely LOVED this book; it was funny and had a strong female protagonist.
