Grade 3/4

Term 1

The Jar

As part of our Mathematics Unit we are learning to collect and represent data. We thought it would be fun to reveal “The Jar”. The students had to ask their peers, from the cohort, what is their estimation of the number of chocolate eggs in The Jar. The students then recorded the estimates and represented the data by creating a graph. We then analysed the data and will be counting the total eggs in The Jar, on Monday.

Tennis

Our aspirations of becoming Australian Open players are evolving.

We have been playing Hot Shots Tennis for the past 3 weeks. On Wednesday we will be part of a gala morning at Warrandyte Tennis Club.

Thanks, Mrs Thornton for introducing tennis to us and making this possible.

TENNIS

Meredith acquired a grant from Sporting Schools Victoria to run tennis clinics for our grade 1-4 students this term.

We are working with coaches from Warrandyte Tennis Club. Students had a wonderful experience playing Hot Shots Tennis on Wednesday and picked up many new tips!

Students were calling each other "Djokovic and Barty" by the end of the lesson.

We have 2 more sessions at school, then we attend a gala morning at the Warrandyte Tennis Club.

Thanks Mrs Thornton for making us future Australian Open competitors!

This week in Maths we have been working on the concept of time. Students have learnt different strategies in remembering how many days are in each month and the difference between a 12- and 24-hour clock. We discussed the different types of clocks in our homes and how many clocks you can find around your house.

One activity the students completed was making their own wrist watches and times they individually selected.
