Mary and beloved Women

This coming weekend serves as a beautiful time to reflect on the impact of all of the wonderful women in our lives.

The Feast of Our Lady of Fatima

On May 13th each year the feast of Our Lady of Fatima is celebrated, marking the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to three young shepherd children in Fatima Portugal in 1917.

Mary spoke to these children about different faith concepts, but taking place in the midst of World War One, one of these was praying for Peace. We can continue to pray for peace daily, not just for fighting and conflicts throughout the world, but also peace in our minds. We know that many people suffer with stress and anxiety, so we can hope that each day they feel supported in whatever challenges them.

Students this week have watched the video below to remind them about the inspiring life of the Mother Mary.

Mothers and Special Women's Day

Sunday the 14th of May marks Mothers' Day, but also really the chance to celebrate any and all special women in our lives. Students are reminded that all families look different, however, all are beautiful.

As you will read in other sections of the newsletter we enjoyed some awesome Mum themed activities today, with our breakfast and coffee van and our students going and buying cool gifts to give out on Sunday!

However, we are also celebrating this occasion through our Faith concepts.

All students in the school have created some beautiful craft from the words of Proverbs. Students will be bursting to hand these to their mothers, grandmothers and special women in their lives, and the beautiful part is that different classes in the school have produced different types of craft with the lovely words.

Mothers' Day Prayer Ceremony

Further to these beautiful gifts, all classes in the school have taken part in their own prayer, reflecting on the concepts we can celebrate each Mothers' Day. Please find some of the prompts and prayers shared with our classes below. Students took part in this prayer reverently, sharing their own ideas and reflections. They were asked to bless the words from Proverbs before giving these out on the weekend.

From our entire staff at St Anthony's we wish all our families a beautiful Mothers and Special Women's Day. We all have examples of brave, inspiring, loving and supporting women in our lives and we want to celebrate them not just on Sunday, but every day. We also think of those who are lovingly looking down on us from the Kingdom of Heaven. May God bless all of our unique and wonderful families and mark the weekend with laughter, reflection and special touches that say 'We love you!'

Take care,
