Principal’s Message

A Very Successful Term 1

The first term of a new school year is exciting and challenging for all students. This term has been action packed with so much learning taking place in the classrooms and the specialist programs. Students across the school have capitalised on the opportunities that they have received at Mount View and their learning has been rich and deep.

In addition to the regular program, students in various year levels have been able to experience school camps, learn to swim, swimming competitions and House Athletics Sports. Many of the Year 5 students have also been trying out for the lead roles in this year’s school production.

The new Preps have quickly gained confidence in their formal schooling. With the assistance of their class teachers, they have established great routines which continue to build their confidence. Across the school, with the advancement to the higher year level, students have accepted new challenges, welcomed new friends, and shown that they are able to expand their learning.

Parent and community involvement in the school has been wonderful to see. Support for community events, such as Sausage Sizzle, Second Hand Uniform Sales, House Sports and School Council, has been fantastic. This year we are seeing far greater numbers of parents and community members joining in with these events.

Teaching and educational support staff members have been working collaboratively on developing Professional Learning Communities and also building their expertise and understanding of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program. This work will continue throughout the year, and this will see continuous development of the professionalism and effectiveness of the team.

Easter Raffle

Thank you to all families who have donated Easter Eggs and Bunnies for the Easter Raffle. After listening to the community, we decided that all the prizes should be significantly smaller than previous years. The good news is that we now have nearly eighty individual prizes to be drawn at the assembly. In addition, each class will conduct their own Easter Raffle to be distributed as 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prizes.

End of Term 1 Arrangements

Lunchtime on Thursday, 6 April will be held between 12:30 and 1:30 pm. Lunch Orders can be ordered from the canteen. The End of Term 1 Assembly will begin at 1:50 pm in the Outdoor Assembly Area. Parents and carers are encouraged to come along as this will be the time that we draw the Easter Raffle.

The first day of the school holidays will be Friday, 7 April and the new school term will begin on Monday, 24 April.
