ATHLETICS DAY 2023

What a day it was for the 2023 Athletics Carnival at Llanberris. It certainly started off very wet under foot for all of the staff setting up for the day and for all of the 800m runners but what an absolutely exceptional job they all did. The rain and wet weather at the beginning of the day certainly did not dampen any of the students spirit. It was wonderful to see all of the bright colours entering Llanberris as students got off the buses and made their way into the grandstands.

While the very helpful Ballarat High School students made final adjustments to the events for the day, the nerves and excitement were high as the 3-6 students made their way into their first age group rotations. Fortunately all events were able to commence as planned and it was fantastic to see and hear the encouragement and cheering of houses throughout the day. Students were trying their hardest to perform to the best of their ability whilst trying to remember correct technique at the different events.

We would like to thank all students who participated in the Athletics Day, all parents and friends who were able to come along and support the Miners Rest children, the Ballarat High School children who assisted the 3-6 students at the events and all of the teachers who work very hard on these type of days.

Unfortunately due to the wet weather our F-2 Tabloid Sports had to be cancelled, however we are all looking forward to an action packed afternoon on the Medwell Oval next Friday, 12th May commencing at 12:30pm. We will finish the afternoon showcasing the Foundation and Year One and Two students sprinting events.

Special thanks to the 2023 House Captains for all of their dedication and enthusiasm to any job that has been thrown their way this year. They did a fantastic job assisting the F-2 students in their ball sports events in Term One.

It was wonderful to celebrate the achievements of the Athletics Day at the special Sports Day Assembly last Friday where students were able to sit in house colours and loudly and proudly share their house chants. The behaviour of the students at this assembly was exceptional so well done Miners Rest F-6.
