Art and Technology

Healesville High School has had an exceptionally creative month. In our Art, Wood, Food, Textiles, Digital Technology and Music classes, students have been completing projects and presenting their work with pride. The creativity has not stopped during lunch times, as some of our students have been coming down to the Art Factory to work on projects and participate in workshops.

Here are some of the highlights over the past month:

Woodwork with Mr Darlison has been a blast! The students have been able to create some very useful items that they can use in their home. The Year 7s created spatulas, the Year 8s made mobile phone speakers and the Year 9s created wooden stools.

The Year 9 and 10 cooking elective students are having so much fun with Mrs Morley. They have been following recipes and using different techniques to create delicious meals and snacks. The best part is they get to enjoy their creations and eat the food afterwards. The Talbot kids were also able to get in the kitchen and prepare some yummy macaroni and cheese.

The Year 9 and 10 art students have been completing the final touches on their folio pieces. These include ceramic sculptures, digital artworks, printmaking, painting, and drawing. The Year 10s enjoyed learning the print making process known as dry point etching.

The skateboards made in Mr Cross’ Street Art elective are coming together very nicely. Each student has dedicated their time to planning, painting, and polishing their skateboards. Each skateboard has a unique design that expresses the student’s personal style.

Art Factory is back and better than ever! It’s been so great to see students from all different year levels socialise and work together. The students have been working on their murals and Pokémon cards. Last week I ran a few jewellery making workshops that were very popular, and it was great to see what wearable art the students came up with.

I am looking forward to seeing more creations next term!
