FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Thank you to everyone for a GREAT term and it has certainly flown by. I have been very proud of the effort that our students have put in. These efforts mean that we have achieved so much already and really set the scene for an awesome 2023.

One of the biggest bright lights through this term has been evident in the positive, calm and encouraging attitude of our staff team. The staff have been working hard to ensure that all students are connected, curious and challenged. I would like to use this newsletter to formally thank each and every one of the Greenhills Primary School staff for their professionalism, dedication and commitment to not only the learning, but also the wellbeing and welfare of every student.

A big thank you too to all of our parents and carers for your support of our school. We have completed many Parent Helper Induction sessions and we look forward to continuing to grow our partnership with you.

It’s always hard to pick a highlight but for this term – so here are three!

Welcome to Country & Smoking Ceremony with Uncle Ringo.

Our school community continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to reconciliation, understanding and appreciation of our Indigenous heritage and culture. Our students are active and driven in this work and supported by deeper engagement of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander curriculum through all areas of the school.

Opening of Curiosity Creek.

Not only is this a section of our Capital Works Program that has been delivered on time and on budget – but what a terrific space for our students to explore, learn and have fun all at the same time!

Whole School Reading on the Greenhills

We love reading at Greenhills and this was a special morning that really highlighted how our 15 minutes of reading each morning has had such an impact on the way we start the school day, every single day.

 PA BBQ

How good was last Friday’s Parent Association End of Term BBQ!! It was just a wonderful feeling having parents, carers and friends on-site enjoying the atmosphere and conversation. Building our sense of community and connection is what our PA is all about and what a GREAT job they are doing. We also raised approximately $565 which will be spent on purchasing more take home readers across the school.

A big thankyou to Josh & Mel Lucas for co-ordinating the event and thank you to everyone who helped.

AN AMAZING BOOKFAIR

A big shout out to Jen Ellis for organizing our Bookfair last week. It was wonderful to see so many families take a moment to come and book shop in the Library and because of your support we raised over $1,600. This is an awesome result and all of this money will be spent on new books and organizing our levelled reading resources that are part of our school library collection. We really do have such a well-resourced library and this is something we are very passionate about and proud of.

ANZAC DAY

Each ANZAC Day, the Greensborough RSL Sub-Branch invite our school to attend the ANZAC Day Memorial Service on the 25th April. The Service will be held at the Greensborough War memorial Park, 203 Henry Street, Greensborough commencing at 9.10am and concluding around 10am. If your family is attending, it would be GREAT for them to wear Greenhills School uniform as a mark of respect. Those students who attend will also be able to lay a wreath on behalf of our school community.

Have a safe and relaxing school holidays and looking forward to a massive Term 2!

The first day for students in Term 2 is Wednesday 26th April.
