Photo Catch Up:

Last week Aadam Hamid from Room 26 arrived with his father Hozefah to deliver to the music room, a beautiful blue drum kit.

Our old white kit has been in the school for over 20 years now and, in that time, has had two visits to the Rock Shop Drum studio in Karangahape Road.  The old kit has become damaged beyond repair over this time, and I was wondering how our rock band would function with broken drums.

So we were over the moon when Aadam told me last week that his family wanted to give the school the drum kit they no longer wanted.  Thank you so much to Hozefa, Aadam and their family for this very generous gift to our school.

If any families have instruments they no longer need, we will definitely use them in our music room.  In recent years we have received a clarinet, a violin, four beautiful sets of classroom percussion instruments, one angklung (an Indonesian bamboo instrument),  African drums and six electric guitars. Thank you so much to all the families who so generously keep the music room in mind.

Senior students set the standard at WHS:

Our school councillors are role models and leaders in lots of ways every day. They read to younger classes after lunch, read to little ones at Sturges Road Kindy regularly, lay out Loose Parts for lunchtime use, and even act as translators - as Vienna demonstrates at right.

Shane is our super-dedicated, very talented and extremely efficient Caretaker.

Every morning he makes sure our grounds look clean and tidy - he takes real pride in this, and it shows.

Lots of children have taken up the HOPE idea - Help Our Planet Everyday - and pick up litter and rubbish. A few even hook up with Shane and help him out when they can.

Room 19 children love their newly upgraded classroom - in fact, since they moved back into room 19, attendance has been at 100%. Those two facts may not be related but maybe...
