Gimmel Pool Excursion

Written by Gimmel Student - Langi Kolo

On Tuesday (March 28), the Gimmel class went to the Wave Pool to learn about how to stay safe, stay away from sunburn, and do lifeguard activities.

Everyone was already in their swimming clothes, so we were ready to go.

While we were on the bus it was quite loud! But I didn’t mind, it’s always loud on the bus. While we were getting off, we crossed the road, getting ready to learn about saving people.

We met this teacher called Mr. Claude, who was a really good lifesaver. There were more lifesavers who save people from drowning. First, we learned about how to stay away from getting skin cancer. Second, we learned about how to stay careful around water. Third, we learned how to do CPR to save people’s lives.

Now, we were ready to get in the pool! We were given items that can float and save people’s life. My partner was Megan, so I had to save her. It was a success! Then it was my turn to pretend to drown. Megan did it too!

We laughed a lot, we learned a lot, but it was time to say goodbye.

We got changed and headed right back to the bus. The best thing at the Wave Pool was pretending to drown. It was so much fun. I wish it didn’t have to end.
