Highlights from CSSA Secondary State Swimming

On Tuesday 2 March, five fantastic swimmers (Millie S, Claire H, Hannah J, Bailey N-E and myself) participated in the CSSA Secondary State Swimming Carnival at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre in Homebush.

It was a busy day with many Christian schools from all over NSW attending the event. The competition at State stepped up a notch. There were many competitors there that were born to be lifelong swimming champions but our school was not beaten!

Our team showed great spirit and commitment in the water. Thanks for a lovely day full of excellent cheerleading, positive encouragement, swimming, competition, excitement and laughter.

During the recent school holidays Emily and Hamish exhibited exceptional performances at the 2023 Chemist Warehouse Australian Junior Athletics Championships held in Brisbane. Despite the challenges they faced (they both had Covid the week before), Emily is currently ranked 9th (U16 Girls) and Hamish 16th (U17 Boys) in Australia for Steeplechase. Their extraordinary achievements have rewarded them with qualification for the 2024 National Championships in Adelaide. Their strong performances not only highlight their individual talent but also demonstrate their unwavering dedication to their sport.

Charley to represent the Shoalhaven in State Netball Titles

Congratulations to Year 10 student, Charley B on being one of 10 players selected to pay for Shoalhaven in the HART Senior State Netball Titles.

The HART Senior State Titles is a flagship event within the NNSW pathway. The 3 day tournament showcases the strength of grassroots netball with players from all over the state coming together to play the game they love. The titles will be played over the June long weekend in Newcastle 2023.

Charley was one of 13 players in her age group originally selected from over 20 Shoalhaven girls who trialed. The squad has trained weekly, as well as attending fitness sessions twice a week and attended carnivals leading up to final selection of just 10 athletes.

Over the next 8 weeks Charley and her team will continue to train twice a week as well as bi weekly fitness training and will play a further four carnivals around Sydney before travelling to Newcastle for the State Titles. Well done Charley!

Heidi shines at Royal Easter Show

During the school holidays, Year 4 student Heidi E, competed with her pony Starbuck Ion in the Royal Easter Show.

This was her first time competing at such a high level. Both Heidi and her pony had a lot of success, bringing home so many ribbons, but Heidi's stand out moment was placing 4th in the Miniature Pony Junior Handler aged under 18 years.

Heidi has worked hard in the past 12 months to get her and Ion qualified to attend and we think her hard work has paid off.  Congratulations Heidi!
