Curriculum
We are very excited to be back in the classroom after the holidays to build on all the successes our students experienced in Semester One. This term will offer a great variety of experiences across the curriculum through special events, as well as continuing the programs and routines we established at the beginning of the year.
Our Guided Inquiry topic this term will be Social Justice, during which students will investigate the challenges faced by people living with disabilities , and how society can support them. During the unit we would like to talk to people in the community who care for or work with people with disabilities. If you would be willing to help us with this, please talk to your child's teacher early this term.
In English we will look at poetry and formulating questions to deepen our reading comprehension. In Mathematics we will practise our multiplication and division skills, revisit fractions, and look at probability. Please refer to our term planner on the school website for more detail about our curriculum planning.
One of the major events happening at the end of the term is the Senior School Production, 'Beauty and the Beast' based on the Disney version of the story. All students from each class will be involved, with the Year Three and Four students participating in several musical numbers. Two classes will be paired to perform on each night, Thursday 5th and Friday 6th September. We recommend you buy tickets for your family as soon as your child's performance night is confirmed. Further information will be provided early in the term.
Other events to look forward to this term include the School Disco, Semester Two's Investigate Create and Express Program, the District Athletics, Kinder Buddies, the Book Week Parade and the Literacy and Numeracy Family Night. Phew!
Our 3-way conferences will be taking place in the second week of term, with times available to book online through Sentral until Wednesday. Please book your preferred time as soon as possible. Read your child's report with them beforehand, and discuss what Learning Goals they might set this term, as these will be the main topics we will discuss in the interviews.
Have a great week and we look forward to seeing you at the 3-way conferences!
