YOUTH OF THE YEAR

Youth of the Year Finalists

Congratulations to Hannah and John- Brighton Lions Club 2020 Youth of the Year Finalist

Being involved in the Brighton Lions Youth of the Year was a great experience, it enabled me to meet with other young people from the area as well as discuss current issues with people of all backgrounds and ages. Throughout the process, I had the opportunity to have an interview, present a five minute prepared speech on what I believe is one of the biggest issues in our society (to an audience that included the state member for parliament and mayor for Bayside) and deliver two impromptu speeches. Overall, it was a fantastic opportunity and has been great to meet so many people involved in our community.

The Youth of the Year was a great experience for me to meet other youths in the area who are enthusiastic to be involved and knowledgeable of the issues around Australia and the world. I listened to their concerns and advocacies towards many current problems like bullying, climate change and social media. Subsequently, I got to make some new friends myself. I think it is such competition like the Youth of the Year that brings together enthusiastic people and give them a platform to express their worries and propose solutions to address the issues. It was a pleasure to be a contestant of the competition.
