Principals' Message

From our Principals - Alison & Greg

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for your ongoing support during these difficult times our world is facing. We are encouraged and inspired by the messages and goodwill of our families and community. It is also great to see so many of our students actively engaging in ‘Learning from Home.’

As the virus spreads to this area, it is important to reassure all families that we are in more than daily contact with the CSO (Catholic Schools Office), Human Resources and School Performance Teams, who are assisting all schools in the diocese in responding to this threat. The CSO is receiving constant updates about cases within our region from NSW Health, and will continue to advise us of any calm and measured action we need to take in the instance of direct infection within the school. At this stage, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 within St Edward’s School.

The CSO and our school have the wellbeing of our students and staff foremost in our decision making, while ever the directive from government is for schools to remain open. The actions and support our diocese is providing to school communities has been recognised as leading the way in protecting our communities.

The further measures we have proactively put in place include:

A skeleton staff will be in place each day to care for children of those parents who cannot keep them at home. The students will be supervised by this staff as they engage in the ‘Learning from Home’ program.

We continue to encourage parents to keep children at home if you can. We are here to support you with ‘Learning from Home.’ Please make contact with the school as required.

Sanitise hands when entering school and at regular intervals, as well as promoting a regular handwashing schedule.

Clean and disinfect high touch surfaces regularly.

Continually update protocols in our school around social distancing measures.

Children at school MUST have a packed recess, lunch and water bottle.

We are encouraging parents who are sending their child/ren to school to drop them off at the signed entry points to limit the entry of parents to the school.

These measures are constantly updated as the NSW Health recommendations change. We are doing our absolute best to ensure that you are kept up to date with all new correspondence. Our best avenues for communication are now via Compass (login details were sent via mail), Facebook and our School Newsletter (emailed to parents on Thursdays). Please do your part to ensure that you are well informed by regularly checking these platforms.

We want our students and staff to feel safe, supported and connected to St Edward’s School wherever they decide to be.

Thank you once again for your ongoing support in these unprecedented times.

Stay safe,

Alison Hatton &  Greg O'Toole
