Netball Schools Cup

On Wednesday 29th May, WWHS sent two sides to compete in the TAFE NSW Netball Schools Cup (local day) 7/8 girls and 9/10 girls divisions, held in Narrabri.

The 7/8 girls finished the day with two wins, against St. Philomenas Moree (18-1) and Narrabri HS Orange (16-10), and two losses to Narrabri Red and Narrabri Yellow. The girls showed a great amount of enthusiasm and effort, and can be commended on their performances considering it was their first time playing together as a team in competition.

WWHS 9/10 girls’ team went through the day undefeated after their five games, including 4 wins and a draw. The girls defeated Narrabri blue 17-6, Narrabri Black 14-6, St. Philo's 21-2, Moree SC 17-0, and an 18-18 draw with Gunnedah HS. The girls played with a lot of skill, determination and composure, having to come from 4 or 5 goal deficits to win in some of their games. This team has now qualified for the regional carnival to be held in Inverell in early August where they will play the winners and runners-up from the other local day competitions.

I would like to thank all the parents and friends who assisted with transport, umpiring, scoring, organising and support on the day. Without your help we would not be able to enjoy these successes or have the opportunity to let these athletes compete and enjoy themselves.

Lawn Bowls

Congratulations to Zac Doring and Dustyn Allen on being selected to represent the North West region at the Under 18's Lawn Bowls Championships on August 23rd at Bateau Bay. This is Dustyn's second year representing the North West at the championships and Zac's third. Both Zac and Dustyn are active in the local Wee Waa Bowling Club competition.
