Youth Council

Youth Council To Be Formed

The Narrabri Shire Council is in the process of working with both Wee Waa and Narrabri High Schools to form a Youth Council in each community.

The role of the Narrabri Shire Youth Council is to represent the youth of the region through various projects and activities each year.

In addition, Youth Council participation aims to provide the opportunity for its members to:

- Provide comments and suggestions on regional or national issues affecting them

- Engage in high level, meaningful and influential discussions

- Gain skills in meeting etiquette, meeting processes and public speaking

- Plan and organise community activities and events

- Learn about local government and engage with the local community

- Obtain training opportunities and leadership skills

- The overall Youth Council project will be split into two groups:

Narrabri High School Youth Council

Wee Waa High School Youth Council

Each Youth Council will have specific interests and projects which they will undertake. These projects will be determined by youth participants during Youth Council meetings.
