It's hard to believe that it is only Week 2 of Term 1 given what’s already happening on Farm!  The Certificate III Wool Clip and Certificate II Shearing students kicked off shearing last week, our ewes are being prepared ready for the embryo transplant program and lime spreading is in full swing. The Piggery received their infrared handheld devices (from the AgriFutures grant) to check the animal's temperature which will significantly reduce the stress to the animal, and our first group of Year 11’s have completed their inductions as they prepare to start their Farm journey!

The first step of that journey is of course driving and I’m happy to report that all students in this group have passed their written test for their red licenses! Well done!

As always, we need to highlight a few items for our parents and students to take note of:

Uniform

Students have now been reminded on Farm numerous times about the expectation of being dressed in correct work clothes and the PPE required for Farm. As per the guidelines, I have outlined a few major ones below that have been communicated in morning roll call for students to follow. Compass reports will be written for non-compliance from now on.

Dress Standards & Safety Equipment

  • All students are required to wear high viz farm clothing as per clothing list.
  • College farm work clothes consist of neat clean trousers and shirts, jumper or college jacket, free from tears or rips.
  • Broad brimmed College hats are compulsory during Terms one and four.
  • Long hair needs to be always tied back and if necessary, secured with a hair net.
  • Students must bring their own personal issue safety glasses to Farm.
  • Sunscreen is provided at the farm workshop and students are encouraged to make regular use of it.
  • No mobile phones on Farm (students).  The phone will be confiscated and stored in the College safe for 5 days.

Weekend Duty

Mrs Corsini would just like to thank all those students who have completed or nominated for their 2 weekend duties for this year and next. The rosters are complete and if you are unsure on what date you have been given, please get in contact with me.

Just a reminder that swapping weekend roster is strongly discouraged but in the event this situation arises, students must give a valid reason, two weeks’ notice to myself and find another student to replace them.  Students and parents have access to the roster through daily notices, Farm noticeboard, via email and parents can also access the information in the fortnightly College Chatter.
