Ms Brea Terris

Dear Families,

It is hard to believe that this is the last newsletter of 2022. I remember so clearly getting ready to start the school year and now we are getting ready to embark on the summer holidays and celebrate the festive season.

2022 has been a fantastic year at SHNPS. Our students should be so proud of their efforts and the growth they have achieved in their learning.

This year has continued to bring challenges as we moved out of Remote and Flexible learning, and students have continued their learning back in the classroom without missing a beat.

We have welcomed many new students to SHNPS this year and this is continuing into 2023. We are excited to be increasing our classroom structure to 10 classrooms next year.

The classroom teachers for next year are:

Prep S – Michelle Simons

P/1H – Karla Holt (Mon-Thurs) and Ingrid Condely (Fri)

1/2S – Jacqui Scott

1/2 – Vanessa Maduka

3/4Q – Jackson Quirk

3/4G – Bianca Brown (Monday and Wednesday) and Jess Gray (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday)

3/4A – Lianna Askraba

5/6N– Bree Nietvelt

5/6K – Skye Kelly

5/6 – Petrina Caldwell

In 2022 we welcomed some new teachers and said farewell to a couple of staff members who had been at North for a long time. These staff moved on to new adventures in different schools and we thanked them for their service and dedication to the students at SHNPS.

Jamie Coote has advised me that she won't be returning in 2022. We look forward to Jamie returning to us in the near future.

At the start of 2022 we probably weren’t expecting the impacts of Covid to be so prevalent. Then flooding began to impact surrounding areas, but the school community kept going with only a few modifications needing to be made.

Our camping program got up and running again, being a major highlight of the year for students. The students in 3/4 travelled to Halls Gap. Whilst the 5/6 students visited Sovereign Hill.

This year we received funding for improving our student’s mental health. We investigated a range of options and purchased a wellbeing dog. North is now a member of our school community and has fitted in so well. He has such a positive impact on our community.

Thank you to Miss Kelly for being his carer and ensuring he has been introduced to the school in the correct way to ensure North and our students interact with each other safely.

2023 is looking so bright for our school. We will have a new Kindergarten service on site.  The footings of the building were poured today. The building is expected to be delivered over the school holidays.

I am excited to be working with Shine Bright on this partnership.

Yesterday staff were involved in a planning day for 2023.  I can certainly say we have a dedicated teaching staff excited to meet their classes and begin working with them.

Thank you to all our parent helpers who have supported the school in a range of different ways this year. Many activities and events couldn't go ahead with out your support.

Good luck to our Grade 6 students who graduate at the end of the year and are moving onto Year 7. We know you will do fabulous things in your next chapter of schooling.

Enrolments are still being taken for 2023. Please don’t hesitate to contact the school if you would like a tour of the school.

We wish all our community a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday.
