Meet the staff who have joined our College in 2023....

 

MR DAVID SKELT

What was your previous experience?

Last 13 years: Maths/Science/Biology at Scotch College. Head of House for 9 years.

Prior: Veterinary surgeon for 19 years, before completing DipEd in 2005 – 1st teaching position Science/Biology at MLC

 

What is your role at MMCRC?

Teacher: Maths/Science/Biology and Year 9 Wellbeing Leader

 

Do you have any local connections?

My parents lived in Callignee, and my wife’s family have had a property at Sandy Point since the early 70s.

 

What are your first impressions of MMCRC?

It’s a caring, nurturing environment that puts the students at the centre of everything we do.

 

MR JASON HIDDLESTONE

What was your previous experience?

English and Literacy Teacher at Koo Wee Rup Secondary

previously EAL teacher at Keysborough College, and Blackburn English Language School

 

What is your role at MMCRC?

English Teacher of Years 8, 9 , 10. Homeroom teacher

 

Do you have any local connections?

My mother and her family were from Leongatha 

 

What are your first impressions of MMCRC?

MRS BELINDA HIDDLESTONE

What was your previous experience?

I have been a secondary teacher of English and the Humanities from 7 to 12 for over a decade. I have assisted in leading year levels, running domains, and participating in camps, school events and celebrations. I have had the privilege of working with hundreds of students as they completed their studies. 

 

What is your role at MMCRC?

This year I am a teacher of students studying year 7 and 8 English, as well as year 8 Humanities. 

 

Do you have any local connections?

I am new to the area as my family made the exciting decision to move in the new year. I look forward to learning about my new community and participating in local events and activities with my family.

 

What are your first impressions of MMCRC?

Everyone has been so kind in welcoming us to the area and the College. I am looking forward to meeting and working with my students.

 

MR BEN ABBOTT

What was your previous experience?

Previously, I spent twelve years teaching at Kew High School. In this time I was a classroom teacher of PE, Health and a little bit of Humanities. I also held POR’s in Sport and coordination from years 9-12. 

 

What is your role at MMCRC?

I’m teaching years 7-10 Physical Education and Health and VCE Units 1&2 Physical Education. 

 

Do you have any local connections?

 I have some connections from my time at university and from spending time around the Inverloch area. 

 

What are your first impressions of MMCRC?

The welcoming nature of staff and students around the school has been exceptional. Thank you to all the staff for answering my many questions and helping the new staff out. 

 

 

MS MICHELLE HACKETT

What was your previous experience?

I have been working at MMCRC as a Learning Support Officer. In a past life, I worked as a PE, Maths and Dance teacher.

 

What is your role at MMCRC?

I am working as a Maths Teacher.

 

Do you have any local connections?

I live in Leongatha with my family. We moved here from Melbourne 17 years ago.

 

What are your first impressions of MMCRC?

I have always enjoyed working at MMCRC and look forward to my new role. 

 

MR JAY BAKER

Jay has come to us from Scotch College, moving to South Gippsland with his family. He is a Physical Education and Health teacher and our Sports Leader looking after our College and SSV events.

 

 

MISS ANNA KIRK

Anna has returned to us for term 1 to work in our Learning Adjustment area.

 

 

 

 

 

MRS MELINDA STEPHAN

Melinda has come to us from St Laurence and is working as a Physical Education and Health and Humanities teacher.

 

MS KELLIE DAVIS

Kellie is new to our Learning Adjustment team and will work in our classrooms to support our students.

 

MR PATRICK JOHNSTON

Patrick is a graduate of the class of 2022. Returning this year as an AFL SportsReady Trainee in our Learning Adjustment Team, Pat will work in our classrooms supporting our students.
