Rain! Rain! Rain! The weather has certainly interrupted the garden lessons this month, but we haven’t let that stop us!
The year 3’s have been making laminated signs to put in the green house, so we know what is what. They have then planted some seeds of cucumber, zucchini, tomato, corn and pumpkin. We have also had the opportunity go into the green house and look at the pervious seeds planted. We could see, with awe and wonderment, that even though some corn seeds were sitting on the top of the soil, they had sprouted roots and a green tip. We observed blue cucumber seeds on the green leaves of the cucumber and how much the tiny tomatoes seeds grew.
This week we harvested our garlic which has been growing for the last 8 months. The group where amazed at the size and quantity.
Once the rain stops we will plant the seedlings from the green house into our brand new garden beds. We will also plant some sunflower seeds, so we will have some beautiful sunflowers too welcome us back in term 1 next year.
Happy Gardening Kingswood!
