Building Finally Confirmed – Connected to community

It has now been confirmed that all four priorities will be incorporated into our new build. These priorities include a wooden sprung floor for competition grade basketball, a larger foyer, more toilet facilities, our stage with side storage areas and airport lift doors which will increase our children’s play space. This result has come at a financial cost to the school on top of the 8.3 million funding. We are, and always have been, driven by our core value of ‘we are here for the children’.

Thank you to all those parents that played a pivotal roll in delivering something that will be functional to our community for many years to come. You are all true champions for our community.

Colour Run – We are here for the students

I was thrilled to be slimed by students. It was the highlight of my year. Our school community has done a fabulous job raising $58,213.25 before expenditure for prizes and administration. The total profit being $35,000.00. Leo, our therapy dog, is scheduled to do his last training in December or January, depending on course availability. Leo is a very sweet dog, who is just a sucker for cuddles. Leo is going to be a wonderful addition to our staff in 2023.

Cricket – A place to shine

Nevon in Year 6 is currently representing Victoria in cricket and has been selected as the vice captain. We congratulate Nevon on his sporting achievements.

Energy Breakthrough – A place to shine

I had the pleasure of traveling to Maryborough to watch our two teams compete in this year’s Energy Breakthrough event. This is a fabulous program for our children and their families. Success appears in many different forms for each child. The families this year have worked exceptionally well together to raise more than $13,000, which resulted in the purchase of a new car for 2022 and beyond. Well done to all involved. You deserve a gold medal.

School Fees – We are here for the students

From a school perspective we are noticing that school fees and voluntary contributions are behind schedule when compared to this time last year. Kingswood prides itself on the programs offered to our children. Without continued parental financial support we will unfortunately need to deliver a budget that is reflective of our financial situation. I highly encourage all parents, even those who have already submitted their payments, to look in Compass and support the voluntary contributions as everyone benefits from them. I am sure there is no parent at Kingswood that would like to see programs reduced. Even today, every child is benefiting from previous years contributions. We are not a school community that delivers a basic education to our children.

Workforce Planning – Lead the way

Over the past few weeks, we have made the following appointments: Natalie Potenzi (part time classroom teacher), Olivia Bolton (Science), Bradley Stringer (Leading Teacher – Disability Inclusion), Michelle Jeffery (Business Manager). I know that Brad and Michelle will be welcomed with open arms by our community.
