CAREERS
Careers @ Lilydale High
The Careers Department has been involved in many aspects of school life at Lilydale High School:
All students from Years 7 to 12 have been counselled and informed about various career pathways and have been introduced to careers planning websites such as MyFuture, the VTAC website and the Lilydale High School Careers website.
Year 12 students have attended the Lilydale High Mini-Careers Expo, virtual tertiary information sessions, numerous University and TAFE virtual and face-to-face open days, information webinars and every student was interviewed to determine their intentions beyond this year. It was great to see across the year the number of return visits to our office to discuss course options, assist with scholarship and special consideration applications or just to seek some general advice and reassurance.
210 Lilydale students have taken part in over 20 different certificates offered in the VET program this year. Some of the certificates included; Acting, Animal Studies, Building, Electrotechnology and Sport and Recreation. The courses studied will be a valuable tool in preparing students for apprenticeships and further education as well as providing exposure to industry expectations and opportunities.
In March, all Year 9 students completed the Morrisby Online Career Diagnostic Assessment. The assessment assists students entering part time work and prepares them for their future aspirations. In April, students who completed that assessment attended a 'Careers Interview' with an external career practitioner to discuss their results. From all reports, the assessment and career interviews were a very positive experience for students.
Congratulations to our VCE and VCAL students on achieving their high school certificates. Congrats also to those who receive offers for university and TAFE courses beginning from December 21.
We would like to wish all of you a fantastic break and we will see you in the new year.
