Principal's Message
2nd December 2022
Dear TCPS Families,
As expected our staff and students loved seeing our parents and TCPS families return to our school assembly last week.
It is very easy to forget that it has been 2 years since that occurred as assembly has continued to run in that time mainly through a 'remote' online format. With enrolment growth to occur again in 2023, lets be reassured that we are 'in the line' to have our AV system improved in terms of screen and sound, I am hopeful this will occur in the near-ish future (pending the availability of the necessary resources).
Education is free at TCPS - No Student Payments or School Fees in 2023
I am excited to announce that once again in 2023, and for the foreseeable future, there will be NO requested payment towards Curriculum Contributions from families (previously known as student charges). This means education at TCPS is free for our TCPS families.
TCPS will provide ALL curriculum materials for our students without any requested financial contribution in the form of student charges, from our families.
This includes ALL books/pens/pencils/paper etc, art supplies, online programs, classroom materials, sporting programs incl buses. Parents will not be requested to make any financial contribution to cover these items.
There are a number of complex contributing factors that has enabled us to once again achieve and provide this for our families.
The ongoing support of our families has ensured that our school has been able to offer the best possible education and support for our students. We want to thank all those over our school’s history for their support. This has made a huge difference to our school and the programs we have been able to, and will continue to, offer.
Community Connections Group (CCG)
The CCG have planned a family event for the 9th December, hosting a family picnic on the oval. They are coordinating a surprise for students and will work to create a festive atmosphere.
Student Leadership
With 28 grade 5 students expressing interest in the 4 school captain positions for 2023 selection was always going to be an challenging task. After the first leadership task, in consideration of student and staff feedback with have now short listed 8 student for consideration. They will undertake a further 2 leadership tasks this week - one being speaking at this week's assembly. These tasks will determine the final outcome.
Grade Structures 2023
Structurally there won't be a lot of change next year in terms of grade groupings. Mathematics in many ways determine how we combine our grades. In 2023 we will have 28 homegroups, up from 25 this year. In saying this we have been able to maintain our strong commitment to extremely low class sizes across the school. Working with the enrolment numbers we will have the following level teams.
Number of home groups | Grade Level | Average size |
1 | Prep | 19.00 |
