Looking Back in Primary

End of Year thank you

2022 has been a busy and fulfilling year. In Primary we are blessed with a dedicated team of teachers who are focused on supporting every student in their class. The activities provided to our students extend from meeting their diverse range of learning needs to offering opportunities for further growth and extension. It is a privilege to work alongside such passionate, driven, knowledgeable and empathetic educators.

Thank you and farewell to our Year 6 cohort. You have been exceptional leaders and excellent ambassadors for our College. Our students are what make our school special, and you have let your light shine all year. Thank you to our 2022 Primary Captains, Myra Dhingra and Savaana Kapur, for your leadership and service to Clayfield College. It has been a pleasure to support your initiatives and see you grow in confidence this year.

I wish you all a restful and peaceful holiday season.

Fire Truck Visit

Year 1

Earlier in the term, the Year 1s had a visit from the Firemen of Windsor Fire station who came to talk to them about fire safety. They had a blast with the fire hose too! Here are some of their reflections:

“The equipment was really cool”; “We got to squirt the water in the hose!”; “I loved the water canon!”; “We heard the sirens too!”; “It was so exciting!”; “We all got wet when they sprayed the canon.”; “I just loved it!”; “Don’t forget to check your smoke detector.”

Eureka! Gold Rush Excursion

Year 5

As a conclusion to our History unit, Year 5 enjoyed a day at Eureka Excursions. They panned for gold, made damper, learnt about bushrangers and haggled at the general store. A highlight of the day was the gold rush game which gave the students the opportunity to buy a miner’s licence and search for gold. Following their success, they traded their gold at the assayer’s office. It was an enjoyable day of interactive learning.

Staffing Update

After 16 years with the College, Mrs Danielle Hodgson will be leaving the school at the end of this year. Her time at the College has seen her involved with the Primary and Middle Years, and she has supported students in Science, Debating and Drama. We thank Danielle for her significant contribution to the College and wish her all the very best as she embarks on a new chapter of teaching.

We would also like to acknowledge Mrs Marie-Claire Borrman, who assisted as a Teacher Aide in Year 6 this year. Her positive contribution in the Primary School was felt by everyone, including the students and parents.
