From the Principal

What a big year!
What another big year it has been again at Camelot Rise Primary School. The 2022
school year is ending, and Christmas is just around the corner. The highlight of the year was the fact that all schools were open for the entire year! It was great to be back into normality with camps, excursions, swimming programs, fun runs, sporting events, school productions and Christmas concerts all occurring again in 2022!
Our goal for 2023 remains to ensure that all our students are achieving their best possible outcomes and we have already started working towards that goal. Your children’s new teachers will be briefed on each child’s point of need for the start of next year as part of our ‘Teacher handover / Transition to 2023’.
Early in the new school year, we will offer our ‘Getting to Know You Interviews’ where parents and teachers can discuss their goals for the year ahead. We will also conduct Parent Information Nights in Term One where parents can learn about what to expect in each year level throughout the school.
Given the success of this year’s WebEx interviews, we will most likely offer both an online and an in-person option next year.
Slime Run 4 Fun
What an overwhelming success! Thank you to the many parents and community members that assisted last Friday. It was great seeing so many parents watching this event laughing as the children got ‘slimed’. We had perfect weather and the feedback from students, parents and staff was incredibly positive.
Thank you to Kerryn Wardle and Amanda Neary who worked so hard to ensure this event was such a wonderful event for our school community. Thank you to all those who sponsored or who sought sponsorship for their child – your donations raised $10,000 for the school which will be used for our new basketball backboards and nets. Due to this figure surpassing our expectations we will be asking the students through the Junior School Council how they would like this additional money to be spent.
Yes, we will book in this event again for 2023!
Christmas concert
We are all looking forward to our Christmas Concert this Wednesday, 7th December commencing at 5.00pm. (Food trucks will be here from 4.30pm). It is great that we can now hold these events again and we look forward to another wonderful community event.
All classes will be performing on the night and this year we will have a performance by our ‘Camelot Rise 3- and 4-year-old Playgroup’. We are looking forward to seeing all classes and our Playgroup performing on the night.
It promises to be a fun evening.
Farewell to the class of 2022!
Our 2022 Year Six students are now in their final two weeks of primary school. We are very much looking forward to the Year 6 Graduation and Awards night that will be held on Thursday, 15th December.
It is an exciting time for any young person to move from the sanctuary of their primary school and take the challenge of entering secondary school. We would like to wish them
all a very fond farewell from Camelot Rise Primary School. We know our school has provided these students with the skills and confidence to take on any challenge they face in the coming years. I would also like to farewell all the families that are departing Camelot Rise Primary School for a variety of reasons.
We hope that wherever you go you will look back fondly at your time at Camelot Rise Primary School.
School reports-Friday, 9th December
From 4.00-pm on Friday, 9th December Student Reports will go ‘live’ on COMPASS. More information about school reports will be communicated with parents closer to this date.
School Leadership positions for 2023
At our upcoming assembly this Friday, 9th December we will be announcing our 2023 Student Leaders. There is a very vigorous selection process involved in determining our Student Leaders and we look forward to seeing the excitement on their faces this Friday when we announce these positions.
End of year assembly
Our final assembly for 2022 will be held on Friday, 16th December at 2.45pm. At this assembly we will say goodbye to our Year 6 students and their families and any other families that are not returning to Camelot Rise in 2023. Our Year 6 students will perform their ‘Graduation Song’ and we will watch the Year 6 PowerPoint that will show highlights of their time at Camelot Rise PS.
Our Year 6 awards will be presented at our Graduation evening that will be held on Thursday, 15th December.

2023 Transition Day
All students today met their 2023 classmates and teacher/s. Your child was handed a notice that stated the class they are in, their teacher, the location of their classroom and the name of the other student /s they selected to have in their class.
Reading
With the school holidays looming, I thought now was a good time to remind families of the benefits of regular reading habits. Whilst we expect students to read every night as part of their homework routine, we truly want them to want to read every night for enjoyment. We hope this continues over the holidays and that our students can continue to keep up their reading habits. Research shows that the summer break leads to approximately a two-week drop-in literacy skill for some students. For those that read regularly, they actually go the other way and can gain more than a month in terms of learning growth, simply by enjoying a book here and there and reading before bedtime.
Shade Sail Grant
Thanks to the work of the Camelot Rise School Council in particular Keean Braybon and Bron Miller (School Council members) who have led another successful grant application for a shade sail to be placed in our quadrangle area. This area is used by many of our students for four square type games.
We are hoping this new shade sail will be installed early in 2023. This will be a welcome addition to our school facilities.
2023 School Year
All students in Year 1 – 6 commence school on Monday, 30th January.
Our 2023 Foundation students will commence school on Thursday, 2nd February. This later start date will provide time for the Foundation teachers to complete the necessary testing requirements prior to the Foundation students starting at school.
Have a wonderful holiday!
We would like to wish all students, parents, and staff a wonderful Christmas and holiday season with their families. We would like to thank everyone who works so hard to make
Camelot Rise Primary School such a fantastic school.
We appreciate the opportunity to work alongside you in your efforts to continue building schools that are great places to work and that make a real difference to students' learning outcomes. We look forward to this continuing in 2023.
Again, thanks for a wonderful year and your support as families, of our school.
If you and your family use our school grounds during the holidays and see any suspicious activity, please call DET Emergency Management 9589 6266 or Glen Waverley Police
