Level 3

Learning makes your world more colourful

Welcome to 2023!

All of the Level 3 teachers are very excited to be starting off the new school year with all of the wonderful Level 3 students. Hopefully everyone is feeling refreshed, eager to learn and ready to go for another amazing year at HEPS.

We will be starting off the year with our annual Start Up Program for the first week in order to revisit the school values, to build connections in the classroom and to get to know all of the students.

As always we welcome parent helpers into our classrooms. Please contact your child's teacher to organise a time and day to volunteer.

Maths

This term we continue to focus on Number, including odd and even numbers and counting with fractions. We then focus on Measurement and Geometry including learning about length and 3D shapes. We end the term with data representation and interpretation. We include daily practise of times tables and mental maths to increase our fluency and accuracy. We also collaborate and investigate problem solving and open ended tasks with multiple answers and several ways to solve the problem. We encourage students to continue to have a growth mindset, experience challenge and work towards improving their own personal skills. A focus on the process not the product is important, an example of this includes students focussing on learning how they can solve problems more effectively rather than always just focusing on the answer. An understanding that we are all learning and are allowed to make mistakes is normalised in our classrooms.
