Duke Of Edinburgh

After completing the practice journey at Mulligan's Hut a couple of weeks ago, the Bronze Duke of Ed students embarked on their final qualifying journey. On Monday 21 November, we travelled down to Armidale to the World Heritage-listed, Oxley National Park. We started our journey at the Dangar Falls where we viewed the absolutely stunning waterfall whilst we continued down the trail towards the Salisbury Water Walking track. On our walk, we encountered many orange and white butterflies along with a mysterious grey goat. That day we walked a total of 15 kilometres.

We camped at Dangars Gorge Campground and the next day we drove to Blue Hole; a different part of Oxley National Park. We walked the Threlfall Trail where we encountered vast hilly terrain and stunning views of waterfalls and river rapids. The trail we followed was based around the old hydroelectric flume that was built of pine and concrete in 1896. The energy produced would generate power for Hillgrove, a small town on the outskirts of Armidale.

Thank you to Mr Cowan and Miss Tilse for supervising us on our Duke of Ed journey.
