1st March is Jump Rope for Heart Day @RPS

This year our school is participating in Jump Rope for Heart – a fantastic physical activity and fundraising program by the Heart Foundation that has been running for over 35 years.

Since Jump Rope for Heart started in 1983, schools like ours have raised more than $104 million for the Heart Foundation’s lifesaving work.

Jump Rope for Heart is a great way for your child to keep fit and learn new skills, but it also helps raise funds for vital heart research and education programs.

What you need to do:

It is important to register your child online, so that they can receive the full benefits of the program and participate in online fundraising and win prizes, simply follow the link below to get started and then join ‘Ripponlea Primary School’:

Students will be skipping in P.E lessons and during recess and lunch times. To conclude the end of the program, we will be holding a ‘Jump Off' day on Friday 1st March and this will be a chance for everyone to come together to skip and show off their newly learned skills. This day will be ran by our School Student Leaders and will be a ‘wear red for the heart’ non-uniform day with a gold coin donation. The funds raised from our ‘wear red’ day will be invested in active resources for our School.

Thank you for supporting the Jump Rope for Heart program!

Swimming

Thank you to parents who brought students over the past two weeks to school swimming trials. We had over 20 students turn up and we were able to accurately determine who we could enter for each event at Districts. 21 students will now go on to represent the school at the Balaclava District swimming carnival on Friday 22nd February. They have one more practice on Thursday 21st February at 7am at Harold Holt swimming pool. We wish them all the best and look forward to hearing about their successes.

Triathlon – Have fun, be inspired and boost confidence

Last week we had a visit from Triathlon Victoria who were here to promote the upcoming Weet-Bix TRYathlon on Sunday 10th March. This event is for 7-15 year old’s and takes place at Catani Gardens, St Kilda. It would be fantastic to have as many students from our school to give this a go and Jo will be down to support.
