Chapel Mass

Thank you to Mr Di Sano’s Year 8 Religion Class 3 who hosted our Chapel Mass. The Mass was a dedicated Votive Mass for charity as we are called to live a life of service for others. This will be put into practice in the coming weeks when we commence our Advent preparations by collecting for various organisations who conduct charity and social justice work in the community. Fr Jim’s homily told us that each of us have the ability to assist in different ways and that the St Pius community, as a large and generous community can do so much when our efforts are focused.

Our Mass also provided the opportunity for Fr Jim to bless the badges that our 2021 Year 12 student leaders will receive at their Leadership Investiture. A number of the student leaders elect were present for this blessing. At our next Chapel Mass our Student Leaders for 2021 will host our Mass, dedicated to leadership.

Advent Giving

Given that our social justice and outreach work has been seriously curtailed in 2020, we have looked to expand our giving this year by supporting a greater number of organisations.

Each year group has been allocated an organisation that they will be supporting in an effort for us to live out our faith and live by the ideals of Blessed Edmund Rice, who called us to “Give to the poor in handfuls”.

Further details on this year's Advent Giving will appear in next week’s Woodchatta.

Discussions will be taking place in classes so that each student is aware of how he can contribute in 2020. Our collection of items will commence from Monday 16 November. Be sure to look for your son’s allocated organisation and items next week.
