Book Week

Students celebrated Book Week during Week 2 of this Term. Students participated in many exciting events throughout the week including a virtual incursion by CBCA, an escape room experience and a day of celebrations on the Friday including a parade, trivia and a performance by Year 5 and 6 students. We loved seeing the students and teachers dressed up as wild creatures.

Students also participated in art lessons leading up to Book Week related to a shortlisted book. This involved clay, sketching, collages and painting. These artworks were hung in our school library for all students to see.

Below are some thoughts from students about the week -

"There’s something enchanting about the rhythmic movement of turning the page of a book, only to find another devious plot or heroic action. To have the opportunity to dress up as those who inspire, encourage and motivate you for a whole day, is amazing.  For one day, you could be anyone or anything." - Olivia S

"Book week was so fun! We got to dress up and do a parade to see everyone's amazing costumes with our year group. We played fun games like trivia and drew our curious creature on the playground in chalk. It was exciting playing with all my friends in our wonderful  outfits." - Frankie

"Parading with my friends was lots of fun. There was a parade where we showed our curious costumes, a trivia that tested us and a performance made by the talented Newman drama students and of course Miss Warton! That was the best book week ever!" - Jye

"Children paraded down the aisle hitting poses as they stride. Students recorded their answers as the teacher quizzed them. Children's eyes widened as the 2020 Book Week movie began. Everybody cheered when their classmates won the poetry and art competition. I love Book Week." - Georgia
