Tell Them From Me Survey
At the end of last term we received the results from the Tell Them From Me Survey (which was conducted in August). There was a separate survey for parents, students and teachers. The percentage of parents/families who responded to the survey was approximately 45 percent. The school thanks all parents who were able to respond.
Our school scored particularly high with parent and student responses in the following categories:
I know and understand the Charism of my school and Parish.
Opportunities exist to experience a variety of prayer and liturgy.
We engage in social justice activities organised through my school or parish.
I had access to a computer or tablet, and the internet to complete my schoolwork.
Communication & Instructor Presence was regular and consistent during remote learning.
In addition our school scored positively in the following: quality instruction, teacher-student relations, classroom learning climate and teacher expectations for success.
Below is a snapshot of parent and student responses to the following questions:
Tell us some of the things you really like about your child's school, or things that would make it even better.
Do you feel that the school’s Positive Behaviour Framework is successful in supporting, promoting, recognising and celebrating student's positive behaviour?
Does the school prioritise and celebrate STEM initiatives?
Parent Responses:
"Enjoy the sense of community with parishioners and parents."
"Very caring, respectful, accommodating, well presented school, support needs in place. We are extremely happy with our school as they go above and beyond to meet my children's needs. The school is well run and you can see the dedication the principal and staff input in running the school whilst keeping everyone safe."
"The school does really well catering for the Gifted and Talented and the Special Needs students."
"I really like how the children are greeted every morning on the carline."
"Students have enjoyed STEM initiatives and being involved in inquiry learning this year."
Student Responses:
"Our school provides an environment that encourages positive learning, great behaviour and respect. Our school provides a thing called SPBL. It encourages a new standard for learning and introduces sport and learning opportunities."
"I love all the opportunities that our school gives us academically and sport wise. I also love all the fun reward days our school gives us. I love all the fundraisers to help all those in need."
"I like the fact that the teachers provide a wide range of opportunities for different levels of students. The teachers are kind, caring and respectful and care about each student's individual growth, in wellbeing and academics."
"I love the opportunities we all have to attend to sports classes and how we also have chances to run around and use our energy and feel free, I also believe that it's important to do drama and English because drama gets you going and makes you more outgoing and English helps us with our daily life such as, being able to read and being able to write and interact with others. I also love doing STEM because you can get creative and just make things that help with problems like pollution or maybe you could make something that helps clean up your house or a place like that."
The collated data provides valuable information to assist the school in designing plans to cater for student learning styles and social and emotional wellbeing.
Parent Cyber Safety
As 21st Century learning promotes digital citizenship it is important that students have a thorough understanding of the protocols required when using a digital platform. Sydney Catholic Schools provides a parent information site ‘Stay Safe Online’ that addresses how to assist students to stay safe online promoting on-line protective behaviours. Please note that some of the recommended sites are American based and not relevant to Australia.
